No alternative

You hear so many experts telling us that corporal punishment in schools is old, wrong or simply a waste of effort. Unfortunately, these same experts seem totally incapable of finding any way of maintaining discipline in schools without exclusions and sending students home rather than dealing with the problem. Not surprisingly the standards you would see if you dared to venture into such a school would quite possibly getting you witholding your taxes, not to mention throwing your hands up in horror.

Surely the answer is obvious, simple and cheap. Why not give parents and students a choice. If you go to school A then expect order, discipline and corporal punishment. If you send your child to school B then the rules may be more relaxed but there will not be corporal punishment. What’s wrong with choice?
